I don't care if they r built in the US or Australia but I would like the opinion of the actual boat builder being general dynamics electric boats. They are the only one that can inform all whether having a 3rd production line in SA is viable. If the decision is made to build them in the US then obviously we must send Australian engineers to understand the construction process. We must also establish a nuclear industry because the nuclear reactors still require general safety maintainence. If built in the US my preference would b to use Australia steel (like we did with the first 20 boxers in Germany).Not for political reasons but for sovereign issues eg the relatively recent major damage to the bow of a US seawolf that required major steel replacement. We must be able to maintain the nuclear boats in Australia in our new nuclear port combined with SA facility..
