"Search petrol fires lol. "
?? What exactly is the point you're trying to make?
"As for vapes, the fires are almost entirely by misuse and people tampering with the devices. "
Again, I have talked about how Lithium is a problem once its on fire, and how explosive it is. I havent said there are more accidents involving Li-Ion batteries than petrol. I actually don't know the number, and never pretended I did. (Although, now that I think about it, I have yet to see a video compilation of people's lighter spontaneously bursting in their pockets)
But, when you see what a tiny pocket size battery can do when it explodes, image this in megawatts and building size batteries. There are other grid storage options ( VRFB for instance) that are safer and extremely less likely to burst into flame, even if mishandled.
"Lithium batteries when charged, stored and handled properly are incredibly safe"
Agreed. But keeping these batteries to safe temperature is the problem with grid storage. Hot batteries = not incredibly safe.
"Lots of people are injured with petrol for the same misuse. "
Never said it wasn't the case.
