Evening chaps. Will be nice to have a representation at Indaba - about 25% of attendees are from Aus apparently so hopefully PJ can sneak his way in and sell the grand plan.

Exxaro expanding Grootegeluk so they can service Medupi
Kusile about to come on-line. Decision due first qtr on another possible power station (Coal Three) in the Waterberg. Further to that, Exxaro starting up a new greenfieds mine - Thabametsi - located WEST of the existing Grootegeluk mine (getting close to RES tenements).
It will supply 16mpta to 5 proposed power stations to be built by IPP's and 2.5mpta to other markets - full ramp up expected 2014-2017. Beyond that they are looking at another greenfields dev - where does it end ??

Interesting to learn Medupi has cost R120 billion - a heavy haul line appears to be a lot cheaper option to supply coal to the existing power stations. And maybe the water supply issue is the reason for the 2013 production start date - Mokolo augmentation project kicks in from 2013 to supply the area.
