Prophylactic indeed, just came across this statement from none other than Dr Peter Ghosh written some 11 years ago! (Red colour - my emphasis added) :
"In a study of 25 femoral heads removed from patients with OA, 16 had widespread loss of osteocyte viability and bone death, as determined histochemically".
"This led to the suggestion that idiopathic OA of the hip is frequently caused by episodic osteocyte death which may have occurred years prior to clinical presentation of the disease".
Prophylactic usage is most likely a good chance one day in the future.
