I went to Appin last week to see the Baines operation. It is a very large private company producing blocks and pavers. They like the descrete powder(contains Kaolin)
very much and the blocks/pavers are lighter and stronger than anything else. The market loves these products with Baines not doing any marketing. Sales are driven by the customers demand for the product.
The real money to be made is in cement and China's demand for cement dwarfs the rest of the world's demand. MSC is in China this week to sort out the J/V. Because our cement is so good and the Chinese J/V co is so big in Shanghai when this deal is done MSC could be massive.
Vic needs good news for the EGM so I say there will be announcements this week and next. If the Chinese J/V gets up MSC is off and running. I have been told the Chinese are very keen. They are very motivated to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and Kaocem has the potential to make a very significant contribution.
