Got bumped off a Qantas plane for our first overseas flight (honeymoon, actually) many years ago when we presented (on time) for check in, and the only explaination offered was that the plane was full. That was well before AJ arrived and started his war on customers and employees alike; we've tried to avoid them ever since and have found some better carriers and some worse ones, but never had a worse experience.
