I could see these Collins St miners as fad surfers. The CEO, Richard Taylor, says in recent presentations that Sensore is all about addressing two emerging themes: artificial intelligence and critical metals. And yet their top team are all suits, not a t-shirt or scruffy beard amongst them. Any tech flavour the company has comes from the hired help. And elsewhere RT admits that the company was originally to focus on gold as that has the most comprehensive set of data of any mineral in Australia. The nod towards lithium and copper and zinc comes from the marketing department, not the company's mission statement. So you could say that I have taken the position that these guys are a bunch of opportunists hoping for a quick buck. Not really but I think that that might be one possibility. If so, talk about bad timing by them for a hit and run.
I think there are two possible ways that the company could prove themselves to be more than a cynical attempt to milk the market. They either need to show that using their offerings will shorten the time it takes to identify a prospect and turn it into a mineable deposit or they need to show that using their offerings will reduce the amount of dud exploration companies need to undertake to come up with mineable deposits. But the threshold that the company has to meet is its ability to uncover deposits that can be commercialised. This idea that they are successful if they identify areas of ground showing minute levels of gold is nonsense. Unless their systems can regularly point to mineable areas then the product they offer is likely a waste of time.
On the upside if they were to have success under those perimeters then the mining world would be their oyster. If mining companies could double or triple their chances of success with exploration campaigns and drastically reduce the time it takes to convert exploration dollars into revenue then they will be knocking Sensore's doors down. And by Sensore taking a stake in some of the projects using their technology they can gear up that success. I'm just not, at this stage at least, convinced that RT and the Sensore team see that as their primary goal.
