I'm keen on the LinkedIn / IMDB strategy, the IMDB model is proven and Allmusic is an example of the community the could build. All they needed to do was put ads in the free parts of the website to encourage people to pay for a subscription, there was hardly any point as it was. Further enhance the paid offering with new features etc. 100k users at $65 AUD, $6.5mil ARR, would be laughing. We were only at ~2k subs but with the right execution I think it was possible.
The problem was, as one poster has said they were in management's ears for years saying to put ads in the free sections of the website but it never happened.
The data play could have ran concurrently with the above. I'm disappointed but hopefully it is a case of I don't know what I'm talking about and this is the way to go. Hard to bet against Songtradr... Hoping they provide more information in coming weeks.
