Is he a gambler? yes, does society think so? no.

Crossing the street is a gamble.

Some things have a higher variance than others, and over different time frames. Usually society sees anything that is high variance with a fast rewards system as gambling.

Many people dont want to admit that what they are doing is gambling due to the stigma attached, whether this be somebody trading stock or somebody setting up a new business.

Everything in life is gambling, as there is no known outcomes, but society decides what they perceive as gambling

the thing is if you spend some time researching gambling it will help you with what you call "investing", you call it investing i call in gambling, who gives a crap what it is called.

I sense you have the same stigma about gambling as the rest of society, however i would strong recommend you dropping it and doing some research, as there are many things that will help you, such as variance, EV, mental training, bankroll management, risk management.
