"Jobs are always an election issue in the US, aren't they ?"

Only when unemployment is high. It's near record lows right now, so the election issue is inflation, and the Fed's way to lower that is to raise unemployment. Most voters don't see the connection; they just see the price of fuel at the pump.

Some polls show Democrats gaining ground for November 2022 since the Supreme Court ruled against the will of most people on abortion and gun control issues. It's just too early to tell if those sentiments will last. It's safe to say, though, that the price of tea in China, and the price of lithium, are near the bottom of the list of voter concerns.
