I recall Ralph Sarich had a revolutionary orbital engine in the 70's which was supposed to revolutionise the standard ICE engine. I think he was bought out (by car manufacturer) and his engine shelved because the investment in the then current engines was far to great just to be scrapped. I don't recall the orbital engine ever hitting the street (stand to be corrected).
