    There may be better ways to do it with GIS systems such as QGIS which I have tried' but not been able to get a grip of.

    Not easy to describe/teach but here's a first pass FWIW.

    Companies provide data in many forms (PDF and plans are among the main ones I used for the post above) which requires getting XY and sometimes Z (coordinates) into forms that can be imported into a GIS system. It takes a fair bit of work and care to get that data in with any level of accuracy.

    I am still learning so there are often discoveries that have changed my process from manual to bulk entry into Google Earth. I daresay there are easier ways but not many would be cheap or easy to learn.

    Data can be imported into Google Earth from CSV files (there are also YouTube videos that show how) with decimal degrees.

    Getting the data into CSV is another matter and requires various methods.

    For the Auger geochem data come from plans so I took screen shot of the various images and used the grid lines to calculate a N and E for significant points on the image.

    For the most part the northings are even 200m's. Those that aren't I scaled from enlarged images.
    These went into a spread sheet to which I then added the E and W end of the lines.
    For example a portion of the northern orion.

    western N Eastern formula for scaling each point

    Compiling these into a E and N format, whatever the conversion program requires, and then convert to decimal degrees and import into a CSV.
    Initially I only put in the end points, cross checked, and then added the anomaly outlines using a mix of rough scaling and photo interp.

    [There are various conversion programs. I use a fairly clunky one (lost the link to it as well) but it is much more reliable than others that do a quicker, easier job but crash too often.]

    I wasn't too happy with the result so went back to excel and created 40m sample points between the end points for the majority of the sampled lines. The resolution on the map is good enough to see the majority of individual auger sites so once the 40m samples converted and on GE I laboriously went through and colour coded them.

    This is why the 40m discrepancy is annoying - the lines are OK but results are probably out by 40m though I don't know which way. The majority of anomalies are relative to each other - may not be absolute though.

    For the Pending lines the scale and map base were slightly different so the eastings need to be fine tuned when results are announced.
    Working lines from DRE and then scaled as above.

    Rather tedious getting data of maps but I do find I learn quite a bit along the way which makes it a somewhat worthwhile exercise.

    ===============

    Some of the easiest data to extract are announcements with PDF's that include tables with drill holes, or geochem (chip soils etc) that can be extracted.
    Not too long ago I used to do this manually but then I found Excel has a method that can get selected data from various formats including PDFs.

    Click on Data
    then click the icon below file
    choose from file
    and from PDF
    Again search google

    While this does help get E & N points into Google with conversion programs I am still having to manually add what those points are - hole numbers, azimuth dip depth etc etc.

    =================================

    Transposing sentinel satellite sites for areas like Money or Yin is also point by point.

    Change the coordinate system in GE to decimal degrees and then find a possible drill site in Sentinel. Hover and transfer the coordinates Sentinel to GE. Do it well and the accuracy is usually better than +-25m

    ========================

    Takes time. Would welcome any ideas that could simplify the workflow.

    Hope this is of some use.
