Nope, two different studies.
In October 2019 Talga partnered with Johnson Matthey (among others) in the Faraday Battery Challenge “Cathodes, Anodes, and Solid-state Electrolytes or Lithium Ion Batteries” (CASE LIBs) for solid state battery development. Johnson Matthey announced earlier this year they were selling the battery arm of their business to EV Metals Group.
In November 2020 Talga recevied funding for a feasibility into setting up an anode plant in the UK under the Automotive Transformation Fund (“ATF”) with the Advanced Propulsion Centre (among others).
Talga submitted results of the two initial technical and commercial feasibility studies to APC in June 2021 and found:
"it is technically and economically feasible to refine and produce Talga anodes in the UK, and identified the factors within the commercial, engineering, permitting and energy supptly aspects of the project that would need to be further investigated."
Last month the ATF and APC announced funding of the third round of feasibility studies for scale-up or industrialisation.

The 19 studies, involving 23 companies, will assess the feasibility of scale-up or industrialisation of a number of EV components or processes including anode and cathode materials, battery cell assembly, battery recycling, power electronics and hydrogen fuel cell assembly. They cover a wide geographical spread including The North East and North West of England, West Midlands and East of England, London and the South East, the South West, Wales and Scotland.
Talga Anode: UK-CSi, Feasibility study for establishing graphite-silicon refining plant in UK – Cambridge, EnglandThis project will look to develop a business case based on feasibility of setting up a downstream graphite-silicon refining plant in the UK.
