That's an odd statement considering Germany and Russia were allies for two years.

You can wave the Stars 'n Stripes and say the Yanks won or the Hammer 'n Sickle and say Russia won or you can be Australian and claim that if Britain and the Commonwealth didn't stand firm against the odds until Dec 7 1941 the USA would have had no choice but to sue for peace with Japan and Germany [no longer at war in Europe] early in '42.
