They paid the expense to drill diamond core, the benefit over RC drilling is that you can be selective with your sampling - however this bloke decided 2m samples all the way down hole is sufficient.
Even a non-geo will understand that there will be a visible difference between rock grading 0.00g/t Pt (23-25m) and 4.02g/t Pt (25-27m).
Another benefit of diamond drilling is that you can take structural measurements of features. However these blokes decided to drill vertical holes - meaning any measurement is without an azimuth - pointless.
