70 years ago we had what was called the 'family doctor', essentially s/he saw you from cradle to grave, if they themselves lived that long, many I knew worked into their 80's or when they just couldn't.
Most had their own self owned/ operated practices, no such thing as appointments, turn up and they would see you within 10-15mins, more urgent people were happy for you to jump the queue, because it could happen to anyone.
Today those family practices have been decimated to make way for the big conglomerates of rules, regulations, laws, procedures, government edict, health authority standards (right or wrong), but one thing that stood out by a mile that doctor, the family doctor knew you personally, knew your kids, your parents and didn't care much to the tardy rules of authoritarian control, they only knew one rule...................................................the golden rule..............................................
