Back to the earthquake/tsunami analogy…
After a 7.5 earthquake has been registered, we wait for possible aftershocks and tsunami…it may not come but we can either start heading for the hills or remain on low lands and only start to do so (head for the hills) if and when tsunami strikes. While waiting up on the hills, there is no harvest, the people below can continue harvesting and not wishing to waste a single minute not doing so , they will act when it arrives they say, it may not. Yes it may not, but how does no harvesting for 3-4 months compare against potential loss of lives and financial disaster.
We saw similar human action during the pandemic …people could not sacrifice personal freedoms for a few months , some who were vulnerable contracted Covid and unfortunately died. It wasn’t that they didn’t know the risks, they didn’t do what it takes to be out of harms way.
