Bacci has presented a few negatives for capping immigration, but I note no one has mentioned the other side of the debate.
I'm not an expert myself but newspapers I read do quote experts who say a declining population brings problems like weak or negative profit and share price growth, housing price declines, and lower tax revenues leading to less services or lower quality of services provided by government. migrants who plug skill shortages also reduce the prospect of runaway salary growth in areas affected by skills shortages, which helps keep a lid on inflation.
I don't know if they're right or not but it sounds reasonable to me and it sounds like they should be considered in any immigration cap debate.
