one guy on the program said that the world may lose all its top soil in 60 years
soil is supposed to be a resource equal to that of water and energy that was news to me
another interesting thing discussed was desalination plants You'd think a solution to the water problem would be to get it from the sea afterall there is a lot of it but it is not that simple apparently they use a lot of energy in particular you have to use a lot of energy to convert it and also pump it from the plant to your home
so that was all news to me the next big surprise was the amount of energy used each household uses about 2 bags of coal a day
this put my head into a spin...boat people, immigration, desalinated water, coal burning AND A CARBON TAX
