Went to the front counter of Coles with a bag of coins and asked for the coins to be taken in return for notes. I'm sorry we don't do that - we're not a bank and don't have time to count it came the reply. Thanking her I left the counter.
I went inside the store and proceeded to put items in a trolley with an approximate monetary value as per coins in my bag. Then went to the cashier. After scanning - 'that'll be ...''. I handed the cashier the bag of coins. There were customers behind me - but hey, I was here first. The cashier, somewhat overwhelmed, requested another staff member to help. I stood there quietly whilst the coins were frantically counted. The second person helping was the person who refused to change the coins at the front counter.
Sadly, I didn't get my notes - but I suspect my actions were noted by the front counter staff member.
There are always alternative ways to do something.
