Diesel generators supply about 97% of American Samoa's electricity, almost all of it on the main island, Tutuila. The American Samoa Power Authority (ASPA), a government corporation, owns and operates two generating plants on Tutuila that have about 40 megawatts of diesel-fueled capacity.
