Corporate crooks face tougher penalties
"Corporate cowboys could have their phones tapped and face a 10-year jail term under new Federal Government plans.
The Government also wants to double the fine for individuals convicted of insider trading, and multiply by 23 the penalty for lying to shareholders.
Companies convicted of insider trading could cop a maximum fine of $5 million while company directors and brokers engaged in the same offence would be forced to pay up to $500,000."
