Amcor brings compostable packaging to ANZ

The global packaging leader, Amcor, has partnered with a compostable packaging producer, TIPA, to bring compostable packaging to Australia and New Zealand.
Under the new partnership, Amcor will collaborate with TIPA to locally manufacture, supply and distribute their trademarked and certified compostable solutions in the region. The packaging produced by this partnership will be compostable either at home or via municipal collection.
“We are constantly looking at new ways to bring innovative sustainable solutions to ANZ, ensuring all our packaging is recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2025,” Amcor Flexibles Australia & New Zealand vice president and general manager Simon Roy said.
“Whilst compostable packaging will never be the whole answer, we are working with TIPA to understand and evaluate its use in particular packaging segments.”
The new high-performance compostable films and laminate offerings complement Amcor’s existing compostable range, Nature+, enabling new solutions for bakery, meat and fresh produce customers.
Performing like conventional plastic, the compostable films and laminates can be disposed of using existing composting infrastructure and are all certified either “home compostable” or “industrially compostable,” according to industry-wide standards.
“We are very excited to be working with Amcor to take this major step forward together, enabling our compostable solutions to be made available in Australia and New Zealand,” TIPA VP of Strategic Operations & Business Development Michael Hanratty said.
