Without seeing a 3D model, I am a little surprised that the drill passed by an "adit" and a shaft from historical mining and found this amount of gold. The "oldies" would not have knowingly let it sitting there. The veins must be pretty narrow for them to have missed it, or else the cross section from a different perspective has to be fairly wide with the previously discovered vein well separated and discontinuous from what the "oldies" were mining.
