I had an Indian family as neighbours for several years. Lovely people. The guy was an obviously well educated and intelligent man - a mechanical engineer in a senior position.

I once asked him why he left India, and one of the main reasons he cited was the absolute corruption of the Indian "democratic" process.

You cant get anything done over there unless you bribe multiple levels of government. I guess he would know as he had to deal with government at several levels, and often went back to visit relatives.

I think the story Indians being targeted is a beat up, and even more so now that we find one Indian national was murdered by two of his own, and another set himself on fire (allegedly).

Personally, all the Indian people i have met have been very nice, and a friend of mine has spent a lot of time in Bollywood and says they are beautiful people.

Finally, how many times do we see a news story "a gang of Indian appearance men gang raped a 15 year old girl", or "several men of Indian appearance robbed a pub at gun point", OR "a man of Indian appearance is sought after a drive by shooting in Punchbowl".

There are several types of people whom we should restrict access to Australia - Indians would be nowhere near the top.
