Correction to the song title... S8, The name Not Drowning Waving came from a Stevie Smith poem " Not Waving But Drowning". Sylvia Plath was a fan of Stevie Smiths. I have no idea where My Friend The Chocolate Cake came from...
You've mentioned Do Re Mi. The thing I'm enjoying about this thread is all this music comes flooding back. Do re Mi were great. Deborah Conway was a great front person. I can't find a video anywhere for "Standing On Wires" but here's Man Overboard Deb has a bit of Chrissie Hynde going on.
Deckchairs Overboard comes to mind too... Here's That's The Way Paul Hester was the drummer then and was living with Deb Conway at the time. Soon after he left and joined Split Enz. Another exceptionally talented drummer.
