"Abbott knows it's a great big tax on everything, he tells no lie! ... his party have been internally fighting over the concept of an ETS for some years now"

    The statement above warrants consideration:

In respect to "His party has been internally fighting over the concept of an ETS for some years" that may well mean there were some dissenters as is often the case with various policies.

However, The majority of the former Howard Government must have agreed with an ETS as it was a major Policy platform of the HOWARD Government at the 2007 election. Furthermore, it was also the agreed policy of the Turnbull Opposition until he was rolled as Leader. The ETS that is currently before Parliament was what was agreed to in negotiations between the Liberals and the Government.

In respect to "a great big tax on everything" Abbott is lying on that, as the ETS impost is only payable by the big polluters. There is no doubt that the cost of electricity will increase and the government acknowledges that as that is the reason for most households receiving some monetary compensation paid from the ETS monies collected from the big polluters.
