Yes, the ALP and the Greens are no friend of the irrigation industries but Cotton Australia are a pretty good industry lobby. The cotton industry has a good story to tell - much more efficient per megalitre of water used compared to 20 years ago and lower environmental impact with chemicals.
Mind you, Tanya Plibersek is from the left wing of the labor party and will not have much affinity for agriculture.
