On Friday 5 August 2022, Svitzer Australia (a subsidiary of Danish shipping giant AP Moller Maersk) tugboat operators are walking off the job for 24 hours at the ports of Brisbane and Australia's busiest container port, Melbourne.

Svitzer wants to terminate an expired workplace agreement with its unjustifiable restrictive work practices.

The claim is that salaries will be reduced by 30 per cent. I don't know what these operators earn.

This will be disruptive and costly for container and bulk ship operators, clients, rail and road transport operators and probably QUB.

Not good, with Labor governments in Victoria and Federally turning a blind eye to union action like this, with Federal Labor opposing the right of companies to unilaterally terminate enterprise agreements.

See the front page of 'The Australian', an essential six day a week read.
