A vital issue was raised at the Diggers & Dealers event and worth mentioning here. Environmental sustainability is often floated around as a nice thing to have, sometimes difficult to nail down as some supply chains can be deliberately camouflaged, however scrutiny is coming their way and that scrutiny comes via simple old fashioned Brand protection, which I suggest is more powerful than a hat full of regulators!
Scrutiny of just about anything that goes into an electric vehicle is going to be absolutly forensic. It is a given that performance will always be miles above any old fossil burner, electric is mind blowing fast. However it is he/she who has the most environmentally friendly system with the most human friendly inputs that will be seen as the top level Brands, which will need to win over the most educated vehicle buyers the developed world has ever seen.
One person who most certainly gets this is Amanda Lamaze CEO of Lynas, a rare earth leader. Not a single top level vehicle manufacturer is going to risk their vehicle Brand, a little finger pointing from a well versed competitor about potential questionable fossil input or issues relating to human rights to save a dollar, will not happen.
Amanda's quote below reported by The Australian demonstrates how up with the pace she is. COB have raised the ability of the BHCP to supply ethical sustainability product constantly.
Cheers
Phil.
