Sodom sulfur balls, page-228

It is totally naïve to assume that Sodom was like any other city.
Given that its population was very small according to archaeologists, it was probably more like a small town than what we would regard as a city.

The grievous sinful behaviour of the inhabitants of Sodom (excluding Lot and his family) caused a major outcry. Why?
    Genesis 19:4 gives the answer.
"4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house.
5 They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.

You don't have to be a genius to figure out that the town was probably exclusively homosexual.

To get an idea of the sort of behaviour that might have caused the outcry, visit Google Images: https://www.google.com.au/imghp and search for "Folsom Street Fair San Francisco".

The fair is hosted by the gay leather residents of San Francisco’s South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood and attracts 400,000 visitors annually.

The SoMa neighborhood is most certainly not a family-friendly neighbourhood and it could well be the modern day equivalent of Sodom.
If you really believe innocent children would be playing in the streets of such areas, then you need a brain transplant.
