Jonathan, back in the days when Pinnacle was purchasing Cougar, to change direction from its hopeless VRB technology agreement it had with Vanteck, I and others were involved ina large way with that process. Professional confidentiality agreements stoips me saying all you might want to hear but the public parts of what we found are that "UCG competes favourably with a large scale black coal power station even though UCG is sympathetic to a distributed power station plan of 400MW generating stations."
It doesn't take a genious to work out that the public equivalent of black coal generation is around $30 per MW . . . .I'm sure you can divide to get cents per kW.
My information (from various sources as diverse as rumours and lecture tours etc) is that CXY has a "lower end" of the range cost operation. So amongst others CXY will make more financial contribution than others. This is NOT tested however and has to come with the usualy warning.
Enjoy thinking about how profitable a UCG electricity generating project can be . . . well over 50 per cent IRR.
