As regards CRN, their dividend is AUD 0.1075 cps fully franked, which assuming the same amount every half year gives us (0.1075 x 2)/1.60 = 13.4% fully franked. Granted that CRN has a 5 percentage point lesser yield than TER, however, I personally think the advantage for CRN is they have a geographically spread risk when it comes to govt/federal taxation policies. You only need to take a look at the recent QLD govt's royalty hike to see how TER can be affected a lot more than CRN.
I will keep researching TER, because I do like the yield and given how close I am to retirement, passive income is the way to go.
Thanks once again. Just out of curiosity, were you able to recoup your entire investment in CRN through dividends? That's what I presume should happen and once the dividends generated are larger than the value of the investment, your shares are then free carried.

You might find the CRN dividend is actually unfranked, which makes it an even bigger disappointment given their huge cashflow and EBIDTA
