I don't think it's too early to predict 22 winter crops! You're going into spring with a positive rainfall outlook and full soil moisture profiles.
I was farming in southern Riverina NSW at the turn of the century and I can assure you 98 was no good year in my region with enormous frost damage that year. Crops that looked 5/ha were virtually empty, many cut for hay. But 99-01, yes and while 01 was a bit of a bobtail spring in some areas the crops were still well above average on retained soil moisture from the previous two good years and prices were fantastic with the extremely low AUD at the time. 02 was when the sh.. hit the fan and most of the rest of the decade was dry.
Anyhow GNC was oversold imo and at least this and next FY look solid.
