There are 2 issues you might like to reconsider about the above:
Firstly, just because regulators allow (and even defend) the practice of shorting, that doesnt mean its a good, popular or harmless practice for everyone.
Secondly, as has been raised lots in the past posts about shorting. it certainly CAN badly impact us longer term holders (especially true-blue doughnut clubbers who have most funds tied up in LTR already). Life is full of surprises and none of us know when we suddenly need sizeable funds for purchases/bills and have no option but to sell some much-loved LTR despite the low manipulated SP. Its happened to myself & lots of others here.
