You don't really have a reason to not take them at their word for the technical update. That's fine, though, as every single piece of good or bad news for the foreseeable future will be a technical update. The entire value proposition is a technical update. You really wouldn't want a purchase right now - there are three distinct layers of price-suppressing doubt. 1. Does it work at all? 2. Does it work well? 3. Can 4ds do anything with it even if it does? Until at least a couple of these questions get answered, any purchase is going to be for an extremely unattractive price. That is one thing that makes a positive here a potential outcome: they have territory to make up for. Answering that first question is a reasonable announcement and probably a good call, even if it is a bit of shameless self-promotion.

There are still more potential negative outcomes than positive outcomes. I don't know where they go from here if there is some kind of show stopping negative. It would almost literally be show stopping.
