u have misinterpreted the short sales stat report. The figure of 2,403,027 is the total sales yesterday. Shorts were actually the second column in the report and were only 21,009 or 0.87% of total sales.

I've been tracking short sales for a while and the highest in the last eight trading days is 2.54% on 5 Feb. The last double digit short sales was 13.77% on 27 Jan. and the highest shorts since 9 Nov when I started tracking shorts were on 16 Dec with 25.75%. That was incidentally the only occasion that shorts exceeded 14% since 9 Nov.

IMO short selling has not played a significant role so far in determining the SP.
