If a big broking house has an order for lets say 1 million shares for at or around $1 in ARM, then they must execute the trade in a way which meets those parameters.
If the stock is in limited supply, they will do their best to creat the impression that it is under selling pressure in the hope that someone will fill their buy orders placed lower down.
Believe me - it does work.
You can be the order is big enough to justify the fees attached with the trades.
