Taxpayers and consumers will foot the bill for the green agendas.

As far as renovating coal fired plants - you may need to consult the governments with their green agendas to find that answer.

    However, Europe is interesting:

    Excerpt:

Several European countries are preparing to restart their old thermal power plants.

The move to return to coal goes against the climate change efforts desired by European governments, but it is a tough decision due to concerns about energy shortages in winter.

    And this:

    http://www.sxcoal.com/news/4646331/info/en

    Excerpt:

Coal-fired power generation in Europe reached 579 TWh last year, up 18% from 2020, reversing a downward trend since 2012..

Europe's coal-fired power generation would increase 11% to 641 TWh in 2022 if natural gas prices keep high and gas supplies to Europe are disrupted due to the Russian-Ukraine conflict.

The stupidity of some decision makers to blow up working plants is amazing whilst in many parts of the world good old fashioned reliable coal power back on deck. Yes, you read right - coal fired power generation in Europe was up and in India and China even more are being built. EV's do need charging - hot air simply won't do. AIMO
