They are appointed on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, usually for a term of 5 years. The Governor-General has some of the responsibility for ensuring that Australia is governed according to the rules set out in the Constitution.

WRONG.
The GG is appointed by the Queen, not by the PM.

Thr GG is also the commander in chief of Australian military.

The GG spend 90% time living in UK, paid by Australian taxpayers.
