I was with you all the way until you referred to HC as any kind of example. this place is peopled with a small sector subgroup of voluble mostly right wing, and including a few who are extreme right and a smaller group of moderates plus couple of lefties, seemingly including myself if hingdog has any credibility at all. very few of us here consider independents a suitable or needed reform in our political system.
whereas the general community its only around 5% at most who are stridently opposed to global warming or covid and only a third are interested in maintaining the LibNat coalition as a viable Gov at the election. certainly I'm sure there are none here who would want a permanent Lab Gov. whereas there would likely be maybe 5% of Aussie voters dumb enough to want permanent socialism.
with the independents will hopefully come improvements in pollies taking notice of community values, sentiments etc.... hey its looking up sunshine
