Funding
The TGA 2020-21 budget is approximately $170 million and we operate overwhelmingly on a industry cost recovery basis, although a significant number of activities that the TGA performs are conducted to benefit broader public health rather than directly benefiting identifiable entities among the regulated industry. Many of these are required by legislation, or have been specifically required by Government. The regulatory costs are recovered through annual fees and charges levied on sponsors and manufacturers of therapeutic goods. We use an activity based costing model to calculate the relevant costs for each activity we undertake.
