I know nothing about carbon credits but reading up on them I see the value of "nature-based carbon credits" (which are difficult to quantify, it seems) is pegged by today's market price at: USD$8,36. On a Miombo valuation of 30 million carbon credits that is USD$250 million on the VCM. If the Gwayi-Sikumi forests harvest closer to 90 million credits, as SM seemed to suggest, then obviously the figure is going to be closer to USD$750m.
The arcane workings of carbon trading, what a weird business! But clearly a business, and one that has massive upside for IVZ and must surely balloon our market cap. It's as big an announcement as anything happening in Muzarabani / Mukuyu / Baobab.
