Well I think everyone here has the same concerns. One thing in that mineral sands benefit is even though it may temporary disrupt the local ecosystem it is a "greener" way to sell steel that New Zealand uses a lot of too. So it has that going for it. Environmentalists can't have it both ways (though they often try to do exactly that) and I think politicians in general understand that economic activity is important, having that little "green" way to sell the destruction of a small part of the ocean will be enough for many to give their ok.
I think Karp and the NZ guys may also know more than we do. Can you imagine them giving up nearly half their company for something that wasn't nearly certain? I wouldn't be doing that if I didn't have more info than *WE* here do currently.
