It's a different form of capital return to investors this year. Buying businesses for future growth rather than paying out the previously high dividend.
Similar to a share buy back in that earnings per share should grow in future years and thus dividends per share will grow. It works for me as I don't want to pay the tax now on this income right now but higher income in the future when I need it will be welcome.
