Approximately 6 years ago, August 8th 2016 - the DMP share price closed at $76.91

If you removed the period of March 2020 to September 2021 (Covid), you'll see that the share price hasn't appreciated at all in that 6 year period. I only highlight that because anyone reading your comment about the share price potentially doubling over the next two years needs to take into consideration that over a 6 year period, there's been no capital growth. To suggest growth of no less than 100% over 24 months seems extremely optimistic. Anyone who'd invested since listing at about 2 bucks has killed the pig, had they hung on during that extended flat period, they would've done very well. However, I chose a 'specific period'. Looking further out, say 10 years...investment returns of DMP have bettered that of CSL, which is my largest holding.

I'll be happy with a 20% CAGR which gives me a doubling of my investment in roughly 4 years. Even then, 20% over an extended period is a solid number if everything goes well. Broker sentiments should be handled with care and that's why I largely agree with what you've written.

Gaurav Sodhi speaks in sensible tones. But even then, I learnt very quickly that even he doesn't posses a crystal ball. He's made some calls in the past where had you acted upon them, you'd have some rather big losses. So he's done well out of coal. He got that one right at least. But the lesson is there...remove your (not you) blinkers and be realistic and apply a safety buffer when assessing for growth.

I hold some of those companies that you've listed. Personally, I've started to tilt future allocation of money towards cheap ETF's. There's only one investing production that I listen to. I no longer listen to anymore investment podcasts, you tube etc. It's mostly noise and self promotion. Bit like Hotcopper.

Buyer beware. If something looks too good to be true...

But hell yeah, I also wish the very best to all DMP holders. Even the over optimistic ones!
