SunTzu, IMO, it's a terrific post that makes me look past all the hype. Even though I've invested heavily (and relatively early) into various minerals required to feed the EV revolution (especially Lithium), I look at how is it even possible to consider that all the government legislation to phase out ICE vehicles is even mildly possible.
Consider how many cars alone are on the roads around the world. It was estimated that there was approx 1.32 billion cars, trucks and buses on the road in 2016. Estimated 2.8 billion by 2036 all things relative.
    So I sit with?
How many people can afford a EV to replace their old "2nd car", let alone their first car?
We are already facing an ever growing deficit supply of many battery materials and that's expected to multiple for at least the next decade. Where are all these "renewables" going to magically appear from? Since nearly all of that has to come from the earth, what impact is that going to have on the planet that's already under environmental stress?
Around the world, we are already seeing power shortages and forced blackouts. This pressure on supplies (whether Russia is actually to blame or not is another conversation) in correlation with inflationary pressures, is currently seeing massive jumps in the energy cost to the consumer. If this continues,
    1. How will the majority of the worlds people afford to buy an EV, let alone afford to charge it?
    2. If they turn off the power supply or there are blackouts, how are people going to charge their EVs?
I'm hanging onto my ICE in the back shed just in case whilst I hopefully profit with the rest of us, from the renewable metals boom to come.
