Qantas will be bleeding cash when they start to pay these bubbly prices for the shares under the buyback LOL.

Don't forget: the company is extremely overdue for capital expenditure to upgrade its ageing fleet so will be burning cash at a tremendous rate over the next few years. With signs of the pent up demand for travel diminishing in recently published US data the company will be back to raising more debt or begging the Australian government for more money within two years. Before then Joyce will most certainly have retired, having cashed out from his over-remuneration based on a pumped share price and leaving behind a ruined business.

Qantas has certainly been one of the dumbest chapters from the Australian experience of the post-covid "everything bubble". Neither a unicorn nor a meme stock, it's amazing to think that this boring and heavily loss making blue chip with a dim future ahead of it still succeeds in hoodwinking the sharemarket.
