It really bugs when I hear shareholders calling managing directors of publicly listed companies. Do you think that they have nothing better to do than field phone calls from people who are nervous about their investment decisions.

Personally, I would prefer the likes of Rohan Gillespie to what he is employed to do without interference.

Just sit down and imagine how many calls he must be taking if these forums are any indication. And next time you decide to make your direct call to the Managing Director, think of the difficult position that you are putting him in....if he does not answer your call he is crucified on hotcopper for it. if he does take your call (which he invariably does), what on earth do you expect him to tell you? He is bound by the laws of insider trading and the ASX. Do you really think that he is going to tell you something that has not been disclosed to the market? No, all he can tell you is what is already been released to the market. So do everyone a favour and DYOR yourself.

Now I know what happens next as this topic is hashed over from time to time. There will be a certain section of the crowd which says "I am a shareholder, I have invested my hard earned in this company and its my right to ring and find out whats going on!". Let me give you a tip, you have invested in the speccy end of the market where success is hard found and there are no guarantees. Your anxiety and aversion to risk means that you should be at the shallow end of the pool investing in the BHP's. The speccy end requires you to work hard to DYOR and for YOU to take resposibility for your investment decisions. Don't bleat that YOU are due for an announcement. You will be informed when there is something to tell.
