The owner of the company was on the radio earlier today and whilst wouldn't cast blame, believed the minivan blocked both the vision of Abbott's driver and the truck driver. He believed Abbot's driver most likely concentrated on the van behind him, and the truck driver concentrated on the minivan, expecting the minivan to also pull up and not suddenly change lanes into the front of the truck. That is what normally happens on country roads in rural Victoria, the turning vehicle should give ample indication and then pull up adjacent to the white line, if there is one. Any following vehicles either then pull up behind the stationary vehicle or pass the vehicle on the left hand side. That is both the law and normal practice, thus the expected action. When the minivan pulled out to pass Abbot's car that changed everything. What hasn't been mentioned but is another possibility, if Abbott's car and the minivan were driving below the speed limit nearing their destination, was the truck driver, and perhaps the minivan preparing to overtake them both when Abbott's car indicated it's intention to turn?
